ARE insurance is aimed at international students, trainees or researchers residing in mainland France. ARE insurance guarantees repatriation in the event of illness or an accident requiring you to be repatriated to your country of origin, as well as cover for any damage you may unintentionally cause to a third party.
You can take out this cover if you are under 70 years of age. Your married partner and any minor children living with you can also be covered under the family policy.
ARE insurance covers you exclusively in mainland France for 12 months.

ARE is cover designed specifically for foreign students, interns and researchers living in metropolitan France, combining student repatriation cover and student personal liability cover.
Please note that it does not cover medical expenses, which fall under a separate policy or under French social security.
ARE is for foreign students, interns and researchers under 70 living in metropolitan France. A married spouse and any minor children living with the policyholder can also be covered.
ARE personal liability covers the financial consequences of damage you accidentally cause to third parties in your private life, including during an internship covered by a formal agreement: up to €4,575,000 for bodily injury, damage to property and consequential loss combined, and €76,000 for damage to property alone. An excess of €80 applies per claim.
If, during your stay, you fall ill or have an insured accident that forces you to cut short your stay in metropolitan France, our assistance service arranges and covers your repatriation to your home country, at actual costs incurred.
The decision to repatriate is taken jointly by your doctor on site and the assistance service’s Medical Advisor.
In the event of death, repatriation of remains is covered up to €1,500 (coffin costs limited to €760).
Any request requires the prior agreement of the assistance service.
